Retumbra - Last Train Home

Project Overview: My friend Noah approached me to help create videos showcasing his jazz ensemble for venue bookings. The goal was to capture the group’s energy and talent in a way that would resonate with booking agents.

Role: I handled the entire video production process, from filming on set to post-production.

Creative Challenges: We filmed three songs, but incorporating b-roll from different songs presented a challenge due to lighting differences—one set had orange lighting, while the other had blue. I worked to adjust the colors dramatically while maintaining natural skin tones, pushing the limits of my color correction skills.

Tools Used: I shot the footage on a Canon 5D Mark III, edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, and color corrected in DaVinci Resolve.

If I Did It Again: As I’m not often behind the camera, I’d prepare more thoroughly next time by creating a detailed shot list in advance rather than improvising. I’d also communicate better with the lighting designer to ensure better continuity.
