All That Glitters

An improv troupe prepares for its big debut show.
Project Overview: I collaborated with three other classmates on this “creative freedom” project for a production class at DePaul.
Role: I co-wrote, directed, produced, and did all post-production.
Creative Challenges: The project came together in just four days. We wrote the script on a Thursday afternoon, tailoring each role for actors we’d worked with before. By a stroke of luck, all of them were available, the Bughouse Theater had an opening, and we were able to shoot on Saturday.
Key Techniques or Tools Used: i love editing comedy. Comedic timing adds a unique layer of rhythm and pacing that I love working with.
What I Loved About This Project: This is my favorite project in my entire portfolio. Perhaps it was the time crunch, but everything aligned perfectly, and the final product turned out exactly as I had envisioned.
If I Did It Again: We faced color correction challenges due to mismatched cameras. The differences in quality made color grading extremely difficult. If I were to do this again, I’d simplify the shot list and stick to one camera for consistency.
